Mayor Ted Clugston says he’s tired of being compared to Lethbridge, and the local area should be allowed greater leeway when it comes to pandemic restrictions.
Speaking after Monday’s council meeting, Clugston said he was disappointed to see only minor adjustments to the province’s reopening plan, and that his calls to bring in a regionalized approach to reward areas where cases are low are falling on deaf ears.
City will let its mask bylaw expire

Yes
After a heated debate to bring in a local mask bylaw in early December, Medicine Hat city council will allow it to expire on March 4, it was announced Wednesday.
At that point province-wide requirements to wear masks to slow the spread of the coronavirus may still be in effect, stressed Mayor Ted Clugston.
The absence of a provincial mask mandate in late November when cases were spiking raised the temperature on a local debate.
