The Malakoff ISD has proposed a $72 million bond election to build a new school and make major renovations to others. Early voting starts Monday, April 19 and runs through April 27 for the May 1 election. Rich Flowers/staff
Malakoff Independent School District voters begin early balloting next week on the biggest bond issue in the history of the district.
If it passes, the $72 million package will fund construction of a new High School, renovations to the existing Middle School, and various district-wide capital improvements on all other campuses.
Voters can not only cast early ballots at the Malakoff Learning Center and the Texan Theater in Athens.

One of the things people are doing more during the Pandemic Pause is learning to play a musical instrument. At the new Brick Row Music store in Commerce, Texas, guitar, bass, fiddle, mandolin, ukulele, and voice lessons are taught by professional musicians Brad Davis and Joel Weaver.
Grammy Record performer Davis has operated Brad Davis Recording Studio in Commerce since 1985 in between time spent touring on the road, most recently with Billy Bob Thorntonâs band The Boxmasters. In the studio he keeps up with local artistsâ recording and production needs, as well as recording, producing, and creating music for his own projects that range from tribute albums to movie soundtracks.
