He started his adult life as a counter-intelligence officer in Germany during the Korean War, his son, Fort Worth attorney Carter Hampton, said in an interview. He went to his grave never admitting he had ever been in East Germany. He was a loyal soldier, and I teased him about it.

New Bern native Ceron Francisco retires from wrestling at 25

In a bittersweet moment, Ceron Francisco untied his shoes and placed them in the center of the ring, a tradition when retiring from the sport of wrestling, at the Olympic Last Chance Qualifier on Saturday, March 27 in Fort Worth, Texas. Ceron grew up in Duffyfield and enjoyed playing sports at the Stanley White Recreation Center as well as in school until the eighth grade when his family relocated to Fayetteville. I was a good athlete and excelled in basketball and football,  said Ceron. In his eighth grade year at Grover C. Fields Middle School under Coach Brian Saunders, Ceron made the first step in beginning his wrestling career by trying out for the school’s wrestling team.
