West Texas VA Experiencing Serious Weather Related Issues   BIG SPRING, TX   West Texas VA Health Care System (WTVAHCS), is experiencing significant impacts from the winter storm.  Currently our Abilene Community Based Outpatient Clinic and Fort Stockton Community Based Outreach Clinic are without power or water. As a result, all Abilene and Fort Stockton appointments have been canceled and will be rescheduled.  Veterans with questions concerning appointments should call our main scheduling line 432-463-7361 ext. 2800. As well, the drive through COVID-19 vaccination clinic schedule for today at the Big Spring location has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021.  All appointments have been automatically rescheduled.  Veterans with questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccination should call our hot line 432-268-2364.

Comprised of the George H. O Brien Jr. VA Medical Center in Big Spring and the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Abilene, TX, San Angelo, Tx, Odessa, TX, Fort Stockton, TX, and Hobbs, NM, the doors of the George H. O Brien Jr. VA Medical Center admitted its first patient, James A. Waters on July 15, 1950.

Credit: West Texas VA Health Center System Author: Zach Leff Updated: 2:18 PM CST December 23, 2020 BIG SPRING, Texas The West Texas VA HCS has begun its Moderna COVID-19 vaccinations on December 23.  It is one of 113 VA Medical Centers across the country to receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The sites were chosen based on their need for the vaccine according to a report from the CDC. “West Texas VA Health Care System is eager to offer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to our staff and Veterans in line with CDC and VA priority guidelines,” says Jason Cave, Director, WTVAHCS. “As vaccine supplies increase, our ultimate goal is to offer COVID-19 vaccination to all veterans and employees who want to be vaccinated.”
