MARSHALL, Texas – A Marshall man has been sentenced to prison for federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
Thomas Asa Harbarger, 57, pleaded guilty on Nov. 17, 2020 to possession of an unregistered destructive device and was sentenced to 72 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap.

HARRISON COUNTY, Texas (KSLA) - According to the U.S. District Attorneyâs Office, a Marshall, Texas man has been sentenced to prison for federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
Thomas Asa Harbarger, 57, pleaded guilty on Nov. 17, 2020, to possession of an unregistered destructive device. He was sentenced to 72 months in federal prison on Wednesday, April 14, by U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said that while Tovar has been discharged, he stll faces many challenges in the days ahead, but he will not be alone; he has the support of a loving family and his brothers and sisters in law enforcement.
Following his discharge from the hospital, Tovar was flown to Austin to receive additional medical treatment. In a post on Facebook, the DPS said when Tovar arrived he was greeted by Class A-2021 Trooper Trainees who saluted him for his bravery and as a show of respect before he was taken to a nearby hospital. Trooper Tovar continues his road to recovery, and we want to thank the community for their support, the DPS said.

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper struck and killed a man who was lying in a street near the state Capitol early Thursday, authorities said.
According to the DPS, at approximately 3:40 a.m. a Texas State Trooper assigned to the State Capitol detail was patrolling the streets adjacent to the Texas State Capitol when he turned from Colorado Street onto West 13th Street.

DPS spokesman Victor Taylor said the man, who was 50 years old, was lying in the street for unknown reasons.
