MIDLAND, Texas
In a press release Friday, Midland Development Corporation announced that Executive Director John Trischitti III is stepping down from the position starting May 15.
He has led the organization since 2019, but is leaving the role to pursue new opportunities in education, literacy and community partnership.
Trischitti said while he has focused on many types of improvements during his time with MDC, he is excited to return to education.

Texas Tech has now expanded upon the current physician assistant program to produce more of these well-rounded individuals in the medical field.
Christina Robohm-Leavitt is the regional dean and physician program director at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Leavitt described what a physician assistant is, what their responsibilities are and what is required to get into the Tech program.
âA physician assistant is a highly educated medical provider who can do most of what a physician can do,â Leavitt said. âWe can take medical histories, do physical exams, give diagnoses or have lab tests and write prescriptions.â
Leavitt said the physicianâs program at Tech requires that the applicant have a baccalaureate degree since the program is a masters level program. There are also a couple of prerequisite courses within the basic and behavioral sciences and a minimum GPA requirement is a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.Â

Texas Tech Health Sciences Center announced April 28 that their institution has been listed among the top 7.4 percent of 20,000 universities worldwide in CWURâs 2021-2022 edition of the âGlobal 2000 List by the Center for World University Rankingsâ released on April 26. According to their statement on this, TTUHSC have achieved an overall score of 67.9 for an overall world ranking of 1,406, putting them at rank 281 among U.S institutions and 317 with Canadian institutions included.
Additionally, the Health Sciences Center is also ranked the 1,386
th best university worldwide for research performance by CWUR, which is determined by research output, high-quality publications, research influence and the number of high-cited research articles citations. Each of these compromise 10 percent up to a total of 40 percent of a universityâs overall ranking, according to the release.
