TEXIT has begun! - LewRockwell

Writes Roger Young: Lew, Yesterday, the Texas independence movement took a huge step toward reality. I’m guessing the response among the public was positive as the Texas Nationalist Movement website crashed due to traffic. Democrats have been making a lot of noise lately about “protecting democracy.” What’s more “democratic” than this referendum where Texans are given an opportunity to practice self-determination? It will be interesting to watch Democrats squirm while trying to justify voting against it. I predict they’ll fall back on their usual standby excuse- “It’s racist!” Wish us luck!

Texas Rep Introduces Bill For Residents To Vote on Seceding From the U S

Texas Lawmaker Introduces Bill That Would Let Residents Vote on Seceding

Texas Lawmaker’s Proposal Would Let State Residents Vote on Secession A lawmaker in Texas this week introduced a measure that would allow state residents to discuss, debate, and vote on independence from the United States. State Rep. Kyle Biedermann, a Republican, filed House Bill 1359, also known as the Texas Independence Referendum Act. Voters would choose in a referendum on Nov. 2, 2021, whether the state should leave the United States and “establish an independent republic,” the act states (pdf). If voters say yes, a committee would be formed to study the matter and make recommendations regarding the best way to break away from the rest of the country, including advice on how to amend the state Constitution to accommodate the proposed nation and recommendations for issues that would have to be negotiated with the U.S. government such as a common travel agreement.

Herman: Texas secession bill filed in House

Kyle Biedermann, R-Fredericksburg, during Pledge of Allegiance to American flag on Tuesday in Texas House shortly after he filed bill calling for statewide vote on Texas secession from U.S. OK. There it is in black and white and with an official bill number. As promised by secessionist Rep. Kyle Biedermann, R-Fredericksburg, House Bill 1359, the first step toward reincarnation of Texas as an independent country among the nations, was tossed into the legislative hopper on Tuesday. It’s most likely headed for the legislative chipper to be spit out along with lots of other bad ideas. But don’t laugh, Biedermann and his backers are serious. And, as I told you in my recent column about their Jan. 21 virtual town hall meeting, they’re also potentially problematic, too.

Herman: Texas secession, and chatter about war with the United States

Herman: Texas secession, and chatter about war with the United States Used to be we knew  and generally knew to dismiss fringe, nonsensical, bellicose chatter when we heard it. Then we had Jan. 6, the date when years of such rhetoric roiled into action via an attack on the U.S. Capitol, an attack we never thought could happen until it did. So now we listen to such talk with an ear that says maybe we should think about the unthinkable. I had that notion during the Thursday night Zoom session in which state Rep. Kyle Biedermann, R-Fredericksburg, announced that on Tuesday he will file legislation calling for a statewide vote on Texas secession from the United States.
