Roughly a quarter-million dollars in damage was done to multiple farm buildings due to a fire that happened Friday afternoon. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office reports that crews were called to the scene in Cascade shortly after 2pm. Deputies say that the fire started in a barn and then spread to another outbuilding and also damaged a nearby corn crib. No injuries were reported in the blaze and authorities do not believe the cause of the fire to be suspicious in nature.

34 year old Wesley C. Hames, of Farley, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
According to the Iowa State Patrol and Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department, a pickup truck was traveling west on U.S. 20 near Olde Paint Lane at about 11:25 p.m. Wednesday when the vehicle went onto the shoulder and the driver lost control of it, It went into the median, where it rolled, and it rolled again on the eastbound lanes before it came to rest in the south ditch.
Three residents were rescued from a building fire in Bernard early Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out shortly before 1 am at 268 Jess Street – the building is home to the Painted Horse Saloon on the main level and apartments on the second level.
The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says an adult and two children were trapped on the second floor. Rescue personnel were able to get them out through a second floor window. They suffered minor smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene.
Residents next door at 519 Leffler Street were also forced to evacuate due to the smoke filling up their home.
