DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office is opening a new position to help in its response to people experiencing a mental health crisis. A new partnership between the sheriff’s office and two mental health providers in eastern Iowa, Foundation 2 and the East Central Region, will employ a mental health liaison within the department. Dubuque County Sheriff Joe Kennedy said since the pandemic began, more people have been calling saying they feel suicidal, and when someone is in distress, having a mental health professional respond makes sense.

The U.S. Marshals Service says Untavious Davenport, 39 of Illinois, was apprehended near Zwingle, a community just south of Dubuque. Law enforcement had been looking for Davenport since he was indicted in June 2020 by a federal grand jury in Missouri for conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl.

Vehicle Pursuit Through Dubuque County Ends Near Farley – Mix 94 7 KMCH

A vehicle pursuit through Dubuque County ended near Farley on Tuesday afternoon. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says around 1:30 pm, their deputies along with the Peosta Police Department spotted a vehicle that matched a description to a vehicle involved in a theft at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Dubuque. Peosta Police tried making a traffic stop, but the vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. The Sheriff’s Office says stop sticks were successfully deployed around the Epworth area and the vehicle came to a stop just west of Farley. The driver, 38-year old Nathan Cross of Clinton, was taken into custody without incident. Cross faces numerous charges, including eluding, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating while intoxicated by drug or alcohol, theft of a motor vehicle and theft of license plates, as well as two Dubuque County warrants, one out of state warrant, a warrant out of jurisdiction and numerous traffic violations.
