In a matter of days, the majority of the NFL s 32 teams will enter offseason mode. Within weeks, the rest of the league will follow.
And when that happens, one of the first thoughts that will cross the minds of fans, returning players, coaches, executives and local media surrounding each team will pertain to which difference-making players might be acquirable via free agency, the trade market or the draft.
But we have to be realistic, too. Everybody would jump at the chance to trade for Patrick Mahomes this offseason, but the Kansas City Chiefs aren t exactly likely to make the reigning Super Bowl MVP available.

Throughout the NFL season, we’re ranking all 32 current starting quarterbacks from best to worst. Here’s the breakdown following Week 16:
32. Drew Lock, Denver Broncos: Dropped passes were a factor in Week 16, but the league’s second-lowest-rated passer just couldn’t get it done on big throw after big throw in a close game. He’s likely to be replaced this offseason.
31. Cam Newton, New England Patriots: Dude was benched in a blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills, which means he might finish his season (and his career?) with a 5-to-10 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
Jeez, even JaMarcus Russell lasted longer than Dwayne Haskins.
Ending a turbulent, unproductive tenure with the Washington Football Team Haskins was released on Monday. The quarterback was the No. 15 overall pick of the 2019 draft.
Of course, Russell who lasted three seasons with the Raiders is still the biggest NFL bust ever because he was the No. 1 overall pick in 2007 . and then was so, so bad.
That leads us back to what this community lives and breathes for the Las Vegas Raiders. Would Jon Gruden consider claiming Haskins? He will be available Tuesday.
It’s something to consider. Gruden fancies himself as a quarterback guru and he has brought in several QBs to the Raiders in less than three years including Marcus Mariota, AJ McCarron, EJ Manuel, Nathan Peterman and DeShone Kizer.
