On April 22, the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber hosted its first signature event of 2021, the annual business meeting which was held virtually.
The meeting’s theme – Change that matters: Defining trends for 2021 and beyond .. Achieving your company’s greatest potential – was selected against the background of understanding that although the pandemic continues to have broadbased negative impacts on the performance of the economy, there have been encouraging signs of adaptation by firms to pandemic induced constraints.

Trade and Industry Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon held a virtual meeting on Wednesday with new president of the TT Chamber of Industry and Commerce Charles Pashley.
During the meeting, according to a ministry press release, several matters related to supporting the growth and expansion of the local private sector were discussed.
Among issues raised were combating illicit trade, the Government s export booster initiative and labelling.

Essential business may not be able to pay non-essential workers says chambers

TT Chamber of Industry and Commerce CEO Gabriel Faria and TT Energy Chamber Dwight Mahabir said many essential businesses may not be able to pay people whom are deemed non-essential, despite requests to do so by the Prime Minister in his address on Monday afternoon.
Faria told Newsday since the outbreak of covid19 in TT in March last year, most companies have already put together a framework for people who don’t necessarily need to be in the office, to work from home.
