Denbighshire lighting control plan to boost dark sky bid

The Clwydian Range and Dee Valley area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) could become Wales third dark sky reserve if the bid is approved. It would join the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia in holding the status. Denbighshire council will meet later to consider proposals to bring in stringent criteria for lighting for any future developments in the county area. The AONB covers an area from Prestatyn on the coast to Llangollen, 50 miles (80km) south, or 390 sq km (150 sq miles).

Couple see huge black cat running through field near Llandegla

A COUPLE claim to have seen a puma running through a field as they were driving along the A5104. Alexandra Williams said she and her husband were driving into Llandegla on Saturday morning when they saw the animal, which she is convinced was a big cat. She reported the sighting to Puma Watch North Wales, the group set up to investigate and document such sightings. In the report, she said: “My husband and I saw a huge black cat running across a field at approximately 11.30am as we drove into Llandegla from Flintshire. “It was definitely a big cat and we can only assume it was a puma.

VISITORS to North Wales are being asked to act responsibly this bank holiday weekend as coronavirus restrictions have eased.
