The Martha s Vineyard Times Your support made it possible To the Editor: The words “thank you” do not even begin to express the gratitude that all of us at Red Stocking feel for all of you who supported us this year! As with every group this year, we needed to reimagine many facets of our organization, given the pandemic  from fundraising to website development, to an online application process, and a completely different distribution process. It was an undertaking we were not sure we could accomplish, but with the enormous outpouring of support from our Island community near and far, we were able to make the magic happen once again for 336 Island children. For this, Red Stocking is eternally grateful.

The Martha s Vineyard Times Island shelters prepare to weather weekend storm A warming shelter is open inside West Tisbury library. -Susan Stafford With high winds and extreme temperatures expected over the weekend, an emergency warming shelter will be open to a limited number of community members. The emergency shelter, which is located in the meeting room of the West Tisbury Library, opened Friday at 11 am, and will remain operational until Monday at 11 am. Folks must call the Dukes County Communications Center at 508-693-1212, or the West Tisbury Police Department at 508-693-0020 in order to be admitted, or to request additional information.

Arrests Made On Martha s Vineyard In Connection With Drug Distribution

By WXTK News Jan 7, 2021 Several arrests were made Tuesday after an investigation into alleged drug distribution on Martha s Vineyard.  The Tisbury Police Department says it worked with the Falmouth PD, the Cape Cod Drug Task Force and the U.S. DEA on a two-month investigation.  Janelle Berneche and Jason Mello of Tisbury were reportedly picked up in Falmouth and arrested for possession of a substance believed to be fentanyl.  Police also executed a search warrant at their Tisbury residence and arrested Ryan Mello on charges including cocaine possession.  Police Car Lights

The Martha s Vineyard Times Search warrants result in three arrests Three Tisbury residents were arrested Tuesday on drug charges, according to a press release from the Tisbury Police Department. The drug charges are the result of a two-month investigation that included the Cape Cod Drug Task Force, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and Falmouth Police, the release states. On Tuesday at 10:30 pm, two search warrants were executed. The first warrant was executed in Falmouth by the Cape Cod Task Force, DEA, Falmouth Police, and members of the Tisbury Police Department, on a vehicle registered to Janelle Berneche, 31, of Tisbury. In the vehicle was also Jason Mello, 32, of Tisbury. As a result of the search warrant on the vehicle, both Berneche and Mello were arrested for possession of a Class A substance suspected to be fentanyl, the release states.
