The Disney Channel has picked up a series that features lucha libre star Blue Demon Jr. playing a version of himself.
It was announced on Thursday that the Disney Channel has given a series order to Ultra Violet & Blue Demon, a live-action superhero comedy series starring Blue Demon Jr. and the Disney Channel s Scarlett Estevez. Here s the synopsis for the series:
A magical luchador mask selects 13-year-old Violet to become Ultra, the superhero successor to her uncle, who is the famous Mexican wrestler Blue Demon Jr. and a superhero-in-disguise. Ultra begins her own secret superhero training with her uncle, all while having to navigate the ups and downs of middle school. As they start to work together, Uncle Blue realizes he can learn a few things from Ultra’s modern Gen-Z take on crime-fighting.

Disney Branded TV Names Reena Singh Senior VP of Development and Current Series

Reena Singh has been named to the newly established role of senior vice president of development and current series at Disney Branded Television, marking the executive’s return to the group after 11 years.
Reporting to Disney Branded TV executive vice president of creative development and strategy Ayo Davis, Singh is slated to lead the live-action development and current series teams at the division to develop and deliver original scripted series for Disney Plus and Disney’s numerous linear platforms.

20th Television executive Reena Singh has been named senior vice president of development and current series at Disney Branded Television, the group announced Wednesday.
In the newly created role, Singh will lead live-action development and current series teams for the division. She will report to Ayo Davis, who was named executive vice president of creative development and strategy in November.
Singh’s direct reports are Jonas Agin, vice president of development, and Kory Lunsford, vice president of current series.
