The New Orleans Saints shocked many observers when they used the 28th pick in the first round of the NFL draft to select University of Houston defensive end Payton Turner. Several expected the Saints to address a huge need at cornerback with their first round choice, or perhaps address the linebacker spot or add a wideout.
Instead, New Orleans pulled one of the biggest surprises in the first round. A closer look reveals their thought process behind the pick. Defensive end Trey Hendrickson departed in free agency after leading the team with 13.5 sacks last year. Perennial Pro Bowler Cameron Jordan was not as productive as he’d been in years past. Marcus Davenport, the 14th overall pick of the 2018 draft, continues to struggle with injuries and has produced below expectations.

How will Milton fit in Heupel s offense at Tennessee?
David Ubben, Tennessee beat writer: Milton will be one of the most highly recruited quarterbacks on the roster at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, but he ll be behind his competition when he arrives for workouts and classes this summer. Still, Heupel s system is very quarterback-friendly, with opportunities for shots downfield and a lot of control over the offense. From Drew Lock to McKenzie Milton and Dillon Gabriel, his offen

Overview:
Coming off a stellar career for UCF, Marlon Williams was a favorite target amongst a plethora of receivers for the young quarterback, Dillon Gabriel. With over 2,200 receiving yards in his career, he is one of the most prolific wideouts in school history. He predominantly lined up in the slot or on the outside in stacks, operating on a vertical route tree. He showed great ability in selling post and corner routes by shifting his shoulders to flip the hips of the opposing cornerback in the wrong direction. He also tracks the ball very well in the air and uses that to his advantage by positioning himself correctly at the catch point. Pure foot speed is a concern with Williams because his frame is top-heavy and he runs heavy-footed which limits his get-off from the snap. His hips are also not very fluid, which hinders his route running, as he tends to round
