Adelaide United were the big movers in Matchweek 16, benefiting from Macarthur FC and Melbourne City dropping points as the Reds moved to within one point of Central Coast Mariners at the top of the table.
The Reds beat Macarthur and drew to fellow Finals Series aspirants Western Sydney Wanderers to jump into second by the end of the Matchweek.
City drew 1-1 with Sydney FC and Macarthur added to their loss to the Reds by falling to a 2-1 defeat at home to Brisbane Roar, who ended their eight-game winless run with the shock result on the road.

Ben Waine’s header in the 90th minute of Wellington’s 3-2 win over Western United was yet another highlight in what might just be the most enjoyable A-League season ever.
Waine shares an apartment in Wollongong with fellow youngster Sam Sutton, so perhaps it was no surprise to see him instinctively get in between Andrew Durante and substitute Brendan Hamill to nod home the winner from Sutton’s cross.
He was training on Friday, we thought he would be travelling but unfortunately he wasn t. We need to get back to Brisbane and see what the situation is.
Despite their lengthy winless streak, the Roar are still in touch with the top six and now sit four points shy of sixth-placed Western Sydney Wanderers with two matches in hand on many of their rivals. I say every week the performances are there . we just have to keep believing in the process in what we are doing and how we keep trying to play and develop. I think the performances have been there (in past weeks), it is a case of taking our chances.

Livewire striker Dylan Wenzel-Halls bagged his seventh goal of the season early in the match and midfielder Riku Danzaki extended the winning margin just before the hour mark.
It was a costly loss for Macarthur who could have moved just one point shy of top spot with victory.
The fledgling A-League side went into the contest seeking a club-high fourth successive win.
Brisbane, conversely, have been a side bereft of confidence and woefully out of form on an eight-game winless run dating back two months.
The Roar had produced just three goals in their last four matches, yet the evidence of the first half ran contrary to expectations.
