Ole Jack Magic Wows Western Foes | Standardbred Canada

Harold Wilson s Ole Jack Magic ($3.60) looked every bit the part of an odds-on favourite in Wednesday s (Dec. 23) featured event at The Raceway at the Western Fair District, delivering a decisive 5-3/4-length victory over his six rivals in the final $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot of 2020 in London. Colin Kelly wasted no time with the nine-year-old Kadabra gelding and gunned him to the lead from post 3. Once they cleared the pole-sitting Magics Lucky Charm into the first turn and forced Irish Thunder to tuck into the three-hole, it was lights out. Ole Jack Magic travelled uncontested through splits of :29.2, 1:00.1 and 1:30.3 before drawing away on the final turn en route to a 2:02 victory. Twofourroadie (Travis Henry) swung three-wide off the final turn to claim a no-match second; Herbs Journey (Doug McNair) emerged between rivals in the final sixteenth of the mile to finish third.

Willyorwonthe Wires Western Foes | Standardbred Canada

The seven-year-old Angus Hall gelding had no trouble clearing from post 6, and in fact secured an uncontested lead before reaching the first turn. Following a :29.2 first quarter, Daryl Thiessen rated Willyorwonthe through a 1:00.1 half before bracing for the first-over challenge of Scene A Magician (Greg Dustin) on the second circuit. Scene A Magician cranked up the pressure with five-sixteenths to go, but Willyorwonthe responded with a :28.4 third sectional and maintained a one-length lead. The pair trotted one-two through the far turn and home stretch, with Willyorwonthe reaching the winning post 1-1/4 lengths in front. Xtatic Hanover (Travis Henry) rode second-over cover to finish third.
