Jones joins sheriff s race

PCSO Lt. Bobby Jones Picasa The number of candidates hoping to be the next sheriff of Pulaski County has grown to three. Detective Lieutenant Bobby Jones of the Pulaski County Sheriff s Office announced this week that he s running for the office, joining retired Kentucky State Police Post 11 Commander Todd Dalton and PCSO Captain Troy McLin. Sheriff Greg Speck s decision not to run for a third term opened the door for Jones to attempt his first political campaign. The lieutenant added that he d been approached by several people encouraging him to run for the office, which like other county and city posts, will be decided by voters next year.

Somerset sees two days of pedestrian accidents

Vernon Street in Somerset on Tuesday afternoon.  Carla Slavey I CJ Over the course of two days, Somerset saw two different traffic accidents involving pedestrians on busy roadways. On Tuesday at 12:24 p.m., Constance Armstrong, 71, of Monticello, was in downtown Somerset, attempting to cross from the north side sidewalk of East Mt. Vernon Street walking south at the intersection with N. Central Avenue, when she was struck by a 2016 Hyundai, according to the Somerset Police Department (SPD). 

Body found of missing doctor in Lake Cumberland

By CARLA SLAVEY Commonwealth Journal May 3, 2021 Dr. Robert Supinski Captain Troy McLin of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday afternoon that the body of Dr. Robert Supinski has been recovered from Lake Cumberland. McLin said that the 66-year-old Supinski was found around 2:30 p.m. The body was recovered by Somerset-Pulaski County Rescue Squad divers after being located by sonar. McLin said the body has been turned over to the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office. Coroner Clyde Strunk confirmed that Supinski’s body was recovered from an area that was around 80-foot deep. The body will be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville to determine a cause of death, Strunk said.
