With a statewide opening day for trout fishing season on Saturday, April 3, preceded by a single statewide mentored youth day for trout on Saturday, March 27, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission hopes to return to some semblance of tradition and normality in 2021.
In making that announcement today at a virtual meeting of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Executive Director Tim Schaeffer walked back a December announcement that the agency would return to nearly full-on normality this year with 2 mentored youth trout days - March 27 and April 10 – and 2 opening days – April 3 and 17.

Saturday, March 27 – 2021 Regional Mentored Youth Trout Day in 18 southeastern counties.
Saturday, April 3 – 2021 Regional Opening Day of Trout Season in 18 southeastern counties.
Saturday, April 10 – 2021 Statewide Mentored Youth Trout Day.
Saturday, April 17 – 2021 Statewide Opening Day of Trout Season.
The separate, earlier regional mentored youth and opening days are set to occur in the 18 southeastern counties of Adams, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Perry, Philadelphi
