Moving into a new home last week taught me two things: I own way too much shit, and my body is getting older. Cleaning a couple-year dude dwelling and hauling furniture around town for two different people in one 24-hour span had my legs aching, but I still had fun chores ahead of me like organizing a new apartment and learning how to park overnight in Cap Hill. Pain relief was needed, but so was a relatively clear head. Are those effects even attainable with weed? If you smoke long enough, anything is.
Combining Haze, OG Kush, Lemon Skunk and AK-48 (a hodgepodge of landrace strains similar to AK-47) for physical relaxation and mental clarity sounds like mixing Dr. Pepper, Sprite and iced tea at the soda fountain and expecting refreshment. But breeders are the true experts, and Nirvana Seeds almost hit the money line with just such a genetic casserole, dubbed Lemon OG Haze.
Ranch flavoring is so American that other countries don t have a similar concept or even a comparison; Doritos describes it as Cool American Flavor in Europe. Frank s Hot Sauce might claim that we put that shit on everything, but in reality, most Americans go for ranch. Me, personally? Give me bleu cheese with my wings, extra stanky. That s just how I want my weed, too.
U.K. Cheese is one of my all-time favorites, carrying a creamy funk that helped redefine what we looked for in cannabis smells. The strain, although still a popular choice, never spawned a family tree worthy of its attributes, but it did produce at least one lovely child, partnering with an even bigger classic, Blueberry, to spawn Blue Cheese. Both parent strains are from Europe, with U.K. Cheese s location fairly obvious and Blueberry hailing from Amsterdam. Maybe that s why America hasn t really embraced their child.
Before cannabis companies began commissioning work from artists for their packaging and other products, they hired them to create art on their stores. At first this was a way to announce the newly legal industry; later it became a way for stores to set themselves apart with increasingly intricate pieces.
As Colorado’s street-art scene continues to grow, more and more cannabis companies are splashing murals across dispensary buildings. Diego Pellicer, Silver Stem Fine Cannabis, Canna City, Berkeley Dispensary, Higher Grade and the Green Solution are just a few of the enterprises that have commissioned artists to paint unique and attention-grabbing murals on their dispensary locations.

Anyone visiting Las Vegas on a budget probably has a go-to spot on the strip that has seen better days (unless we re talking about the Excalibur; pretty sure that s always been a shithole). The carpets, once grand, are speckled with petrified gum, mystery stains and cigarette burns. The stock paintings in the hotel rooms were tacky three decades ago. But who cares? You won t be back in the building until 6 a.m. for the breakfast buffet.
The Tropicana was that spot for me on several occasions, but the 63-year-old casino s reputation has been revamped several times over, thanks to ownership changes and sometimes that s all you need for a makeover. And that rejuvenation was what I was hoping to experience when I finally tried out Tropicana Cookies, a fresher take on Tangie, a one-trick citrus pony.
