Perth Glory coach Richard Garcia is ‘pretty confident’ captain Diego Castro will have a vital role to play against Melbourne City on Sunday.
The 38-year-old is yet to feature in the A-League this season but Garcia revealed the Spanish maestro will return for the clash at AAMI Park, kick-off 6.40pm AEDT.
Glory have still managed to rattle in 10 goals without Castro, while also conceding 10 in their three matches, and Garcia wants to gradually build up his skipper’s fitness.
That means Castro is not set to play 90 minutes against the Victorian side – but with forwards Andy Keogh and Nick D’Agostino carrying knocks from training, Garcia did not rule out naming his captain from the start.

Melbourne City return to action against Perth Glory on Sunday afternoon with the opportunity to notch back-to-back wins and keep up with the current A-League leaders.
The fixture at AAMI Park sees City resume battle after sitting out Matchweek 5; Perth on the other hand played two fixtures in the same time, losing twice to Victorian outfits Western United and Melbourne Victory.
Richard Garcia s side play their third successive game in Melbourne against City, and the Glory boss hinted pre-game that club captain Diego Castro should play a vital role in the contest.
A win apiece and a scoreless draw last season meant the two sides couldn t be split. In the first meeting of the season, however, Perth travelled to AAMI Park and comfortably beat City by three goals to nil, sparking a club record six-game winning streak.

Glory started their A-League campaign with an impressive 5-3 win over Adelaide, but have since slumped to drama-filled losses to Western United (5-4) and Melbourne Victory (2-1).
The two defeats were heartbreaking in their own unique way, with Tuesday s loss to Victory occurring when Glory conceded goals in the 86th and 90th minutes.
Keogh and D Agostino pulled up sore from that game, with the pair a strong chance to miss the clash with Melbourne City at AAMI Park.
The match will be Glory s fourth in the space of 12 days. Andy is struggling a little bit and Nick D Agostino has also pulled up a little bit sore, Glory coach Richard Garcia said.

Carlo Armiento says Perth Glory boss Richard Garcia s immense experience as a top-flight attacker is helping unlock his full potential, as he continues to excel in a barnstorming start to the 2020/21 A-League campaign.
It s been a transformative year for Armiento since signing for the club in February, 2020; the 21-year-old is relishing the opportunities given to him at his new club under Garcia - the former Premier League attacker and first-time A-League boss - after a frustrating spell with Adelaide United.
Armiento joined Perth under Tony Popovic after making just a handful of A-League cameos under then-Reds boss Gertjan Verbeek throughout the 2019/20 season.
