Restaurants gearing up for a COVID-19 friendly Valentine s Day

NEW BEDFORD Valentine’s Day is all about the romance, but a romantic dinner date during a pandemic is obviously difficult. Rest assured, several SouthCoast restaurants are offering safe indoor and take-out options. “I expect this year people will want to do something,” said Karl Pelletier, owner of Tipsy Toboggan in Fall River. “It might be that one special day they do go out to eat,” he added. Tipsy Toboggan is teaming up with Rustic Rose Floral Design and Dunny s Fall River to offer a romantic outdoor experience in their garden area. It will feature Rustic Roses’ floral designs and flower carts with bouquets and small arrangements. Dunny s will contribute desserts for pickup, to-go or to enjoy there after lunch or dinner.

Massachusetts restaurants offering igloos and fire pits this winter

updated on February 1, 2021 As Massachusetts residents seek socially distant ways to dine and hang out this winter amid the coronavirus pandemic, restaurants and other venues have answered the call by offering private igloos and fire pits. For example, diners at Patriot Place in Foxborough can eat in heated outdoor igloos at five different restaurants, guests at Alcove in Boston can relax around fire pits with a view of the Zakim Bridge, and Trustees of Reservations visitors are having fire pit experiences at historic properties across the state. “When we ordered them in September, there was a four- to six-week wait for shipping, and since so many places around the country and the world, too were trying to get them, the price had almost doubled since the previous year,” Nicholas Walther, founder and brewer at Turtle Swamp Brewing, told Boston.com. “But we decided to go for it anyway.”
