Tina Bru, Minister of Petroleum and Energy, met with Belgian Minister of Energy Tinne van der Straeten on Thursday for discussions on CCS, offshore wind and hydrogen.

In the digital meeting, Tina Bru presented the Norwegian government’s climate plan, the Longship project on carbon capture and storage, and the current work on offshore wind power and hydrogen.
Norway and Belgium cooperate on several areas, for example under a joint declaration on energy cooperation and in EU processes. The countries participate in the North Seas Countries’ Energy Cooperation, which Belgium chairs this year.

Now the company needs to boost its reputation, too, after scandals tied to huge losses abroad, accidents, safety concerns, climate and environmental violations, and suspected corruption.

Environmental awareness is high in Norway. Spending time outside in nature is for many a rule of life, and holidays are often spent in their hytter – cabins in the forest or on the coast, known for their minimalist style.
Norway recycles 97 percent of its plastic-drinks bottles. In Oslo as in Stavanger, the country s oil capital, or in Tromsø, in the Arctic, people prefer to travel by public transport, bicycle or electric car. Some 54 percent of all new cars sold last year were electric; the parliament has decided that all new cars sold by 2025 should be zero emissions.
First Virtual Business Delegation to California
The need for trade and innovation across the Atlantic does not stop despite the pandemic and travel restrictions. On 27 and 28 April, Norway s first international, virtual visit will take place. It goes to California and is headed by HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway.
