Die Photovoltaikanlage auf dem Dach der Versuchshalle besteht aus 222 Modulen, die eine Produktionsleistung von bis zu 10.000 Kilowattstunden pro Monat, abhängig von den jeweiligen Wetterbedingungen, erbringen. Eigenen Strom produziert Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany seit 2015 auch mit einem erdgasbetriebenen Blockkraftheizwerk (BHKW). Dessen Abwärme wird für das Heizen und die Warmwasserversorgung genutzt und optimiert so die Energiebilanz des Blockheizkraftwerks weiter.
