Matthew Sewell was originally arrested in the early morning hours of January 15th, 2019 when a deputy with the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was called to check on a person believed to be passed out in a vehicle in Milford. Court documents show Sewell was taken into custody a short time later and was taken to the county jail where he says he was denied the opportunity to have a confidential phone conversation with legal counsel before agreeing to the blood alcohol test.

Details Released In Two Vehicle Accident That Blocked N-14 By mmcwilliams May 8, 2021 6:01 am Saga Communications Dickinson County, IA (KICD) More details have been released in a two-vehicle accident that blocked off N-14 Friday morning. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says they investigated the two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 310 Avenue and 200 Street, north of Terril. Authorities say 46-year-old Chad Simm of Paulina, Iowa, was driving a 2003 Peterbuilt Semi tractor/trailer southbound on 310 avenue when 65-year-old Janet Smith of Estherville, Iowa, was driving a 2012 GMC Yukon westbound on 200 street. Smith failed to yield the right of way and entered the intersection, striking the truck on the drivers side. Both vehicles lost control from the impact, with Smith going into the east ditch. Simm’s vehicle rolled onto its side blocking the entire roadway and spilling its load of soybean meal.

Update: Road Reopens Following Crash North of Terril By mmcwilliams May 7, 2021 12:31 pm Saga Communications Terril, IA (KICD) A section of road in Eastern Dickinson County is back open tonight after being closed for several hours while emergency crews cleared the scene of a crash. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 310th Avenue was closed to traffic between 200th and 210th Streets, about three miles north of Terril. While no details have been made available, a photo posted to the Sheriff’s Office website appears to show a semi on its side with a trailer load of grain spilled on the roadway.

(KEYC) - A Milford man is critically injured in a single-vehicle crash in Dickinson County. It happened just before 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Jake Huse was southbound on Highway 86 when he swerved to miss something in the roadway. His vehicle then crossed into the northbound lane before it entered the ditch, hit a street sign, and rolled. Huse was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. His vehicle was totaled following the crash.
