Satan’s Pilgrims is one of those bands that you can’t forget about. They first got their start in 1992, playing at house parties in Portland and destroying living rooms in their wake. The group of five quickly realized that their unique surf-doom style was in high demand. They were bringing something new to the table. At the height of grunge, they offered a playful yet dark take on surf rock.
Made up of Ted Miller, Scott Fox, Bobby McAnulty, Dave Busacke, and John Cox, Satan’s Pilgrims is a force to behold. Donned in cheap Halloween vampire costumes, they made a name for themselves fairly quickly. Inspired by classic surf rock artists like Dick Dale, The Ventures, and horror B-movies, they were one of the first bands to master the “beach goth” style.
In a scene from Henry Barakat’s 1971 film Ebnati El Aziza (My Dear Daughter), the iconic Egyptian electric guitarist Omar Khorshid plays a slow building improvised solo in the kurd scale on his Fender Stratocaster. Dressed in a black dinner jacket and bow-tie with a slicked back hairstyle and charismatic smile, he stands alone on stage, his shadow extending out behind him onto a dreamlike set.
The camera switches to the enchanted audience watching his show. Legendary actor Rushdy Abaza and the singer Nagat al-Saghira are sitting in the front row. Then the camera zooms in on Khorshid’s distinctive fast-picking technique as he changes tempo and scale.

The future came to Burlington Saturday night when Civic Music heralded the beginning of the end of endless coronavirus quarantines.
BCM president Barbara McRoberts welcomed the 200-plus crowd of eager music lovers and introduced SCC President Michael Ash, who was cheered when he said, We ll be having a facemask-burning event soon.
TAKE3 is violinist Lindsay Deutsch, cellist Mikala Schmitz and pianist Jason Stoll, Californians all, performing on the frigid banks of the frozen Mississippi River, their first live concert in nearly a year.
Huge houses with tiny families in Cayucos

On the small street I have lived on for over 20 years, three new homes are being built and two more are slated for construction down below me. Each of these homes are at least two stories, cover entire lots and appear to have four to six bedrooms.
I wonder who will move into them or if anybody will move into them because in this day and age there are very few large families, except in the poorest neighborhoods in America, especially in big cities in California, where often families of five and six or more are squished together in modest two bedroom homes.
