SURE CURLIN and SUPER DUPER are the top contenders for Saturday’s closing event at Caymanas Park, a sprint for three-year-olds, non-winners of two races, going five and a half furlongs.
SURE CURLIN is far more experienced, having raced 10 times, four runs under her girth this season, whereas SUPER DUPER is only making her fourth start, returning off almost a six-month lay-up.
Drawn alongside each other, the two speedsters are expected to dominate the lead. SURE CURLIN placed second to SECRET IDENTITY at six furlongs on May 13.
Though SUPER DUPER hasn’t raced in a while, she ran among top two-year-olds last season and gave hints of her form by producing a bullet work at exercise last Saturday morning, five and a half furlongs in 1:07.3.
EAGLE ONE showed his preference for the round course by scoring a 16-1 upset for trainer Jason DaCosta in Tuesday's seven-furlong Labour Day Trophy at Caymanas Park.

Jason DaCosta’s SIR ALTON appears the horse to beat at the handicaps and proven class but Saturday’s Saint Cecelia Cup, at Caymanas Park, could be turned on its head with the United States-bred colt being suspect, hardly doing much at exercise entering the six-and-a-half furlong event.
Unlike the average field he put away on April 19 when returning off a near four-month lay-up, down in class among overnight allowance runners at five furlongs straight, SIR ALTON now faces the likes of Horse of the Year NIPSTER, SENTIENT and a dangerous EROY, a fellow importee who clocked 1:18.3 at six and a half to romp his last race.
