SEATTLE Shohei Ohtani left jaws agape, teammates stunned and fans nearly 500 feet away from home plate ducking for cover.

SEATTLE (AP) Shohei Ohtani’s league-leading 33rd home run of the season Friday night put him in rare company in the history of the Seattle Mariners home ballpark.
Ohtani’s blast left a buzz through the ballpark and caused a couple of fans sitting alone in that section of the stadium to duck as the ball drew closer. It landed above the fifth row of seats before hitting a concrete wall and ricocheting back down into the lower levels.

SEATTLE There’s seemingly no limit to the incredible things Shohei Ohtani can do on a baseball field, and he showed off his tremendous power yet again with a solo homer that reached the top deck in right field at T-Mobile Park on Friday.
Ohtani absolutely crushed a 1-2 sinker from lefty Marco Gonzales in the third inning for his Major League-leading 33rd blast of the year, as it went a projected 463 feet with an exit velocity of 116.5 mph, making it the hardest-hit homer at the ballpark by any player since Statcast was introduced in 2015. It padded an early Angels lead, but the Mariners rallied for a 7-3 win in the series opener.

Seattle – Shohei Ohtani crushed his major league-leading 33rd home run Friday for the Los Angeles Angels, who fell 7-3 to the Seattle Mariners.
The Mariners came back for the win at T-Mobile Park thanks to an eighth-inning grand slam by Mitch Haniger, who broke a 3-3 tie by blasting a two-out, 2-0 sinker from reliever Jose Quintana out to left center field.
