Source of Furness Abbey green water mystery remains unclear

The cause of green water near Furness Abbey has been a great source of mystery as multiple public bodies were unable to identify who exactly was responsible. United Utilities have said that it is nothing to do with any work they are currently doing but suggested that it was most likely to be dye used to track water to ensure it is being drained into the right place. A spokeswoman for United Utilities said: The dye can be bought by anyone and is normally used to track a drain so it could be a local landowner or council looking for a water route.
