Second-annual NIFA awards open for nominations
By Imogen Bailey | 11 May 2021
The second-annual National Indigenous Fashion Awards (NIFA) are open for nominations.
The awards program, which was launched in 2020, celebrates the innovation, diversity and ethical practices of Australia’s First Nations peoples in fashion and textiles.
The program highlights excellence across six categories, and in 2020 awarded Peggy Griffiths, Kieren Karritpul, Maara Collective X Bula’bula Arts, Ninti One, Bede Tungutaalum and Julie Shaw with an inaugural accolade.
Excitingly, NIFA will make its debut as a physical event this year alongside the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair and Country to Couture showcases in August in the NT.
