Two men charged in Ann Arbor armed robbery head to trial

ANN ARBOR, MI – Two men accused off stealing a backpack from a car then fighting the bag’s owner when he attempted to get it back are heading to trial.
Victor Lynn Stephens, 60, and Gage Andrew Hammond, 24, are heading to trial on various felony charges following an incident in Ann Arbor where the pair are accused of robbing a man at knifepoint.
Following a preliminary examination Thursday, Jan. 21, Hammond was bound over for trial on one count each of aiding and abetting armed robbery, unarmed robbery and malicious destruction of property.

ANN ARBOR, MI – A man convicted for crashing into a fire truck on I-94 while texting and driving, seriously injuring his daughter and killing her friend in 2017 has lost his first appeal.
The Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed Thursday, Jan. 14, the conviction of Charles Edward Horn who was found guilty on two felony charges associated with the fatal crash.

ANN ARBOR, MI – A man found guilty of shooting a man for allegedly spreading sexual rumors about his girlfriend has lost his first appeal to the state high court.
The Michigan Court of Appeals issued a ruling Thursday, Dec. 17, upholding the conviction and sentencing of James Tremaine Freeman who, following a bench trial, was found guilty of second-degree murder, felony firearms and carrying a concealed weapon.
