FLORENCE, S.C. (WMBF) - Friday will be a fully-virtual day for all students in Florence School District 1.
The district made the announcement Wednesday, a couple of days before FSD1 teachers are scheduled to receive COVID-19 vaccines at a mass event at Darlington Raceway.
The district says nearly 1,000 employees have signed up to take the vaccine that day. FSD1 teachers will also be among the first vaccinated in South Carolina, according to officials.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Weâre just a few days away from more than half of South Carolinians being eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Starting Monday, the state will move into Phase 1B of its vaccine plan.
The list includes anyone aged 55 and older, as well as people 16-54 with underlying health conditions.
Some people in Phase 1B said theyâre eager to get the shot now more than ever before.

DARLINGTON, S.C. On March 5th, you won t be seeing stock cars racing around Darlington Raceway. Instead, McLeod Health will be hosting a mass COVID-19 vaccination site, which is already fully booked.
Emily Adams, Vice President of Patient Services for McLeod Health, says this will be a drive-thru event, and the Moderna vaccine will be going to eligible people in Phases 1a and 1b.
