(WMBF) – Some Darlington residents can expect to hear a knock at their door in the coming weeks. The city announced residents of seven streets in the southwest corner of town, including Farm and Allen streets, can expect a visit from staff with the Pee Dee Council of Governments in the next two to three weeks and be asked to complete an income survey. Officials said the data will be used to apply for a Community Development Grant for sewer repairs in the neighborhood.

(WMBF) - A man connected to a shooting in Darlington is now in custody, according to authorities. Darlington Police Chief Kelvin Washington said Ahmad Rashad Sellers is behind bars in connection to an incident that happened Tuesday on East Avenue at around 11 p.m. Washington said a verbal and physical altercation resulted in someone being shot. He added that the victim is currently recovering as a result of the incident.

Mineral Point Man Charged With Hitting A Second Building

By Mark Evenstad Jan 12, 2021 6:42 PM The Darlington Police Department responded to a report of a hit-and-run traffic crash at Piggly Wiggly Plaza in Darlington on Thursday.  Witnesses reported a pickup truck struck the building, causing significant damage, and fled the scene.  Officers located the truck on Main Street and stopped it.  The driver, 64 year old Robin Fries of Mineral Point, faces several charges including operating without insurance, failure to notify police of an accident, hit-and-run, and reckless driving.  The Darlington Police Department has now referred Fries to the Department of Transportation Medical Review Section to have his driving privilege re-evaluated.  The referral comes as a result of the fact this is the second business in Darlington that Fries has struck.  On August 10th, 2018, Fries struck the Dollar General store in Darlington causing approximately $18,000 in damage to the building.

A Mineral Point man was cited for crashing his truck into a Darlington business last week and driving away from the area. Officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash at at a building inside Piggly Wiggly Plaza around 5:20 p.m. Thursday, according to a release from the city’s police department. Witnesses said a burgundy truck caused significant damage to the building and drove away after the crash. Officers found the truck on Main Street. The driver, Robin Fries, 64, faces several charges including driving without insurance, failure to notify police of an accident, hit-and-run and reckless driving, according to the release.
