FLINT, MI At least four fires blazed through vacant businesses in Flint over the weekend, the city fire department said.
Three vacant commercial businesses on the east side of Flint were set ablaze within an hour of each other starting around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, April 18, Battalion Chief Mark Kovach confirmed with MLive-The Flint Journal.
One day before, Kovach said a fire ripped through the former Klock Korner at the corner of Dort Highway and Robert T. Longway Boulevard.
Firefighters had to go “defensive” meaning allowing the fire to burn down to the structure’s basement while putting out the flames as it was unsafe to enter the building, Kovach said.
