The Spalding County Sheriff said two bodies were found in the bed of a pickup truck in a wooded area.
SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. - Two bodies were found inside a burning vehicle just off of a rural Spalding County road on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to a turnoff into a wooded area just a few dozen yards off of Jackson Road in between Wallace and Bailey Jester Roads around 12:30 p.m. for a report of a brush fire, according to the Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix. Neighbors had spotted smoke in the area and called 911. Firefighters arrived to find an extended cab pickup truck on fire.

SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. - Spalding County deputies have arrested a Griffin, Georgia man charged with trying to scam an elderly woman out of thousands of dollars.
Tuesday, deputies arrested 23-year-old Kuldip Patel at an apartment on the 3,100 block of Macon Road in Griffin.
Officials say they began the investigation into Patel after being contacted by investigators in Germantown, Wisconsin.
According to deputies, the elderly victim mailed $20,000 in cash to the apartment after she fell victim to a phone scam.
For nearly a year, election administrators across the country weathered the pandemic while facing attacks and threats leading many officials to resign or retire. In Georgia, little was done to prevent it from happening again.
90 arrests in big Georgia meth bust
Authorities say around 90 arrests are expected in the end of a methamphetamine drug investigation.
JACKSON, Ga. - A big drug investigation that law enforcement dubbed Crystal Web in 12 Georgia counties that targeted methamphetamines was expected to end with more than 90 arrests.
Butts County Sheriff Gary Long said this meth network was dealing about 22 pounds of methamphetamines a week. He called it a large operation and believed law enforcement had dismantled it from the top down.

The roundup of suspects started early Friday morning and continued late in the afternoon. More than 90 suspects in both Butts and Spalding Counties.
