We can say thank you everyday but groups like the 200 Club of Ocean County ensure that these men and women who go above and beyond, our heroes among heroes are recognized for what they do.
The 200 Club of Ocean County will be honoring 38 such individuals at their annual awards reception on June 11 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center on Route 37 in Toms River at 6:00 pm.

When Felicia Simmons organized what became the largest George Floyd rally at the Jersey Shore last June, she tasked each speaker. “I’m not going to tell you what to say,” she told them, but you must offer the demonstrators at least one tangible thing they can do: register to vote, learn the names of their local officials, join a community group.
“When you stand with somebody who is in the midst of those emotional places, you can either pour hate into them and unleash something ugly,” Simmons said in an interview. “Or you can pour something into it that is mindful and powerful. That directs them towards something. That s what leaders do, right? Not just get people out there in the streets to cry.”

Toms River Police said officers and fire crews arrived on scene around 10:20 am and saw that the home was fully engulfed in flames.
Two residents of the home, were there when the fire started, but were fortunately able to safely get out and call 9-1-1.
Police evacuated nearby homes for precautionary reasons and no injuries were reported.
Toms River Animal Control rescued a cat from an adjoining home.
The fire was put under control and out by Toms River Fire Companies who prevented fleas from spreading to any adjoining homes in the complex.
