Kuala Lumpur: Lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla questioned the reported excerpts of Tan Sri Tommy Thomas’ memoir on the latter’s two-year tenure as attorney general, stressing that those who have served as the government’s top legal adviser should never publicly disclose the advice they had provided unless allowed under the law.
Haniff, who has in the past acted as Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s lawyer in some court cases, said he has yet to read the full contents of Thomas’ newly-released book My Story: Justice in the Wilderness, but wanted to give preliminary comments on a news report on the book’s contents.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3: The Judicial and Legal Service Officers’ Association (JALSOA) today strongly objected to Tan Sri Tommy Thomas’ writings on legal officers in the Attorney-General’s Chambers in his memoir entitled
My Story: Justice in The Wilderness, saying the remarks insulted its members.
The JALSOA Executive Committee in a statement today said the former Attorney-General’s criticisms saying legal officers in the A-G Chambers as government lawyers who were just working for a monthly salary and pension and carrying out administrative work, were malicious and even insulting.

1. Covid-19 cases exceeded the 5,000 mark for the third day. However, the Health Ministry said the surge for the last three days was due to a backlog in cases.
There were 289 Covid-19 deaths in January, averaging 9.3 deaths per day.
2. Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said any form of traditional or Islamic treatment for Covid-19 needs to be scientifically tested.
3. Mestron Holdings Bhd clarified that it does not have clearance from the Health Ministry to purchase or distribute Covid-19 vaccines.
