A familiar bronze face in Victoria Park is to be removed.
Regina city council has voted in favour of putting the statue of Sir John A. Macdonald into storage until a new home for it can be found.
“It’s a very difficult decision but at the end of the day the feedback from the marginalized communities that the engagement was undertaken with was fairly clear,” Regina Mayor Sandra Masters said following the 7-4 vote.
“I think I would use the words of one of the chiefs that I had a conversation with which was, ‘Don’t lose the opportunity for education,’ and so the commitment I have, and the other councillors have, is to be sure we find a home for it that is respectful.”

The City of Regina is inviting businesses and organizations to put their stamp on the city.
“Businesses of all sizes, from locally owned shops to international corporations, are an important part of any vibrant and health community,” Louise Folk, the city’s executive director of Citizen Experience, Innovation and Performance, said in a media release.
“The Sponsorship, Naming Rights & Advertising program provides a unique opportunity for businesses and community organizations to promote themselves and align with City programs and facilities that benefit the more than 230,000 residents throughout Regina.”
The city is looking to develop what it called “custom opportunities” with interested sponsors for parks, recreation and culture activities, and facilities in Regina. The revenue generated through the program will help maintain facilities and programs.

RE: City of Regina -Ratified Goal of 100% Renewable by 2050
Dear Mayor Masters and Members of Regina City Council,
We still remember attending that historic meeting in October, 2018, when Council voted to make Regina 100% renewable by 2050.
Many of our organizations addressed Council that day and pledged our support to help Regina reach that goal. However, up until the

Compared to the past couple years, this winter has been rough, and some wish it were over.
“It has been horrible,” said Migdalia Walker of Manchester. “Every other day we’re getting something. I just wish it would go away.”
Persistent, cold temperatures and multiple snow events have defined this winter. Now, people are once again bracing for another several inches of snow.
“Oh, that’s a lot of trouble,” said Kofi Jankm of East Hartford. “Thinking about it is hard.”
In advance of Thursday’s storm municipalities are preparing, including New London.
“We’ve had our rest and we’re ready for this one,” said New London Director of Public Works Brian Sear.
