Ash Sutton secured victory in wet-dry-wet finale at Thruxton which jumbled up the order in the British Touring Car Championship.
With Andy Neate and Glynn Geddie both missing after the race two accident, there was extra spice added to proceedings when rain started to fall shortly before the start – leaving teams to decide whether to go with wet tyres or gamble with slicks given that part of the circuit was wet, and part was dry.
As it was, half of the grid took the decision to go to wets with half sticking with slicks, with the early laps proving to better suited to those on wets as Stephen Jelley held the lead from Ash Sutton and Colin Turkington – with Tom Oliphant dropping from second down to soon find himself outside the points.

The new British Touring Car Championship season kicks off this weekend at Thruxton, with a full grid of 29 cars ready to do battle on the quickest circuit on the calendar.
Although no fans will be in attendance – hopefully the final time that will be the case – there is set to be plenty of action for those watching live on ITV4 to enjoy after a busy winter that saw a raft of chances across the grid.
That is most notably true amongst the manufacturer-backed teams after the departure of Honda from the series, leaving Team Dynamics to run as an Independent outfit for the first time in more than a decade.

Three-time British Touring Car champion Gordon Shedden has topped the timesheets on his official return to the series after setting the quickest lap at the Silverstone media day test.
Shedden posted a 57.108s lap during the afternoon running to emerge from the pre-season test as the man to beat ahead of the morning s surprise pace setter Jack Goff in the brand new Team HARD built Cupra Leon.
Goff actually dipped below his morning benchmark during the afternoon segment with a 57.302s effort, but it wasn t enough to topple the leading Honda Civic Type-R runner off the top-spot.
