THE rain helped to dent Richmond Mavericks title hopes on Saturday. The downpours meant Spennithorne and Harmby s Scott Ryan was available for selection as his cricket game was cancelled. Ryan helped himself to two goals in each half to inflict further pain on Mavs, who were playing their fourth game in ten days, having recently lost in the Medals Shield final and been knocked out of the North Riding Cup. Lee Thompson opened the scoring for Spenni, while player manager Baz Harker, who made a rare appearance due to limited numbers, also netted. Mavs goals came from Wayne Gredziak, Dan Johnson and Sam Pickersgill, who scored from the penalty spot.
