Herald Democrat
A Grayson County historian is working to memorialize one of Grayson County s darkest days, nearly a century later. Efforts are underway to have the Sherman Riot of 1930, in which a Black man was lynched and Black-owned businesses were destroyed, recognized with the Texas Historical Commission.
Melissa Thiel, a masters graduate from Texas Women s University, is the woman behind a proposal to have a state historic marker erected at the Grayson County Courthouse to recognize the killing of George Hughes and the destruction of the former Grayson County Courthouse and nearby businesses by a mob in 1930.

BUCKHANNON The same day that a new Upshur County magistrate was appointed, Upshur County’s Division 2 magistrate submitted her resignation.
Kay Hurst, who was re-elected to a second term in the June primary and served nearly three weeks of that term, submitted her resignation to Judge Jake Reger effective at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
When The Inter-Mountain had checked with Reger at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, the circuit judge had not received a resignation letter and could not confirm the resignation.
“I don’t have any other comment about it,” Reger said Thursday morning. “If you want to talk to Mrs. Hurst, you can. She resigned and we are going to have to replace her.”

The Biden camp is now complaining that Twitter not giving them the Trump Admin’s millions of followers “unnecessarily politicizes what otherwise should be a routine transfer of communication” https://t.co/mi2W4fGwqv
From CNN:
President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team has criticized Twitter’s decision to not allow the millions of followers of the White House Twitter accounts to be automatically retained when the accounts are handed over to the new administration.
“Twitter’s reluctance to transfer millions of followers from the Trump Administration to the Biden Administration unnecessarily politicizes what otherwise should be a routine transfer of communication from one administration to the next,” Biden-Harris transition spokesperson Cameron French told CNN in a statement on Wednesday.
