It has been just 24 hours since Boris Johnson announced his roadmap out of lockdown. His speech included several soundbites that the Downing Street team had presumably pegged as frontpage-worthy, including (but certainly not limited to): “The crocus of hope is poking through the frost” and “cautiously but irreversibly towards reclaiming our freedoms” - like some sort of Monty-Don-Braveheart hybrid.
But in true British form, the entirety of the briefing (which included the promise of “no legal limits on social contact” - imagine telling your 2019 self that was coming in 2021 bingo) was totally overshadowed by the blink-and-you-will-miss-it mention of nightclubs.
