While the battle between Oakland City Council and the A’s over the team’s proposed new stadium took the spotlight this week, city leaders also moved closer to determining the fate of the Coliseum site that the team plans to leave.
Council directed staff Tuesday to pursue dual track negotiations with two Black developer groups for the city’s share of the Coliseum in a bid to advance a new vision for the current ballpark site though one of them has a clear advantage.

OAKLAND, Calif. (CN) Under threat of another professional sports team moving to Las Vegas, the Oakland City Council on Tuesday approved a roadmap for building a $1 billion Oakland Athletics ballpark near the Port of Oakland, despite staunch opposition from some residents and labor groups.
