SHAW applies for Board seat

The Ketchikan School Board on Wednesday is set to interview former Board President Trevor Shaw to potentially fill the vacant seat on the board. Shaw was the only person to apply for the spot, left vacant by the resignation of Vice President Sonya Skan earlier this month. The application period closed at 4:30 p.m. last Monday. Board policy states that the board must fill vacant seats within 30 days, and must interview all applicants for the position. The board accepted Skan’s resignation on May 4. Shaw was elected to the School Board in 2013 and served as the board president until 2018. In 2015, while serving on the board and as the chairman of the House District 36 Republicans, Shaw unsuccessfully ran for a seat on the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly.
