The new superintendent of the Milwaukee House of Correction (HOC) has banned the use of the thin blue line, an image that shows support for law enforcement, calling it a white supremacist symbol. Displaying white nationalist symbols, slogans or other identifying iconography on clothing, supplies, coffee mugs, masks etc. is not permissible at the HOC, HOC superintendent Chantell Jewell said in an email to staff last week. It has been brought to my attention that there were shirts and mugs distributed to staff that have a Spartan s Helmet and a flag with a blue line through it. Both symbols have been adopted by white supremacy groups. These symbols are inappropriate and threaten the integrity of the HOC.

Wisconsin Congresswoman Gwen Moore refused to answer questions Wednesday about her endorsement last year of a Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge now charged with possession child pornography. Judge Brett Blomme was arrested Tuesday and faces seven felony counts.
Blomme was elected last year and touted Moore as his first major endorsement ahead of February s primary. I support Brett because, like me, he is committed to making Milwaukee a better place for all of us, Moore said in her endorsement of Blomme. He is a former public defender who has dedicated his career to fighting for justice and equity. Please join me in supporting Brett Blomme for Milwaukee County Circuit Court, Branch 5 on February 18. Brett is the change we need to help fix our broken criminal justice system.
