Fewer than 20% of inmates at Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn have been vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the jail administrator.
Maj. Jeffrey Chute said Friday that 26 members of the total jail population of 150 had been inoculated.
In Franklin County, where the detention center holds up to 39 inmates, roughly 70% of them had refused the vaccine as of Thursday, according to Jail Administrator Maj. Douglas Blauvelt.
Oxford County Jail inmates are only held up to 72 hours before being bailed or transferred to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.
Oxford County Jail Administrator Dana Dillingham said none of the short-term inmates in South Paris are vaccinated on site.

PARIS Oxford County continues to make steady progress as it converts its jail from a 72-hour holding facility to a full-time, full-service jail.
The Oxford County Commission on Thursday hired four new correction officers and promoted another officer to sergeant/supervisor. Commissioners also authorized County Administrator Donald Durrah and Sheriff Christopher Wainwright to sign contracts for food, medical and inmate telephone services ahead of the target date July 1 conversion.
The Oxford County Jail was downgraded to a 72-hour holding facility through a statewide jail consolidation plan in 2008, requiring it to transport inmates held more than 72 hours to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

PARIS Hoping to breathe new life at the county airport in Oxford, the Oxford County Commission has posted the newly created position of unorganized territories/airport supervisor.
In addition to overseeing the county’s five unorganized territories, the individual will also serve as the first supervisor of the Oxford County Regional Airport.
Commissioner Steven Merrill of Norway, a big proponent of the airport, said it could be a good source of revenue for the county.
“We’re looking at a great opportunity,” Oxford County Administrator Donny Durrah said. “We need someone there to take advantage of this opportunity.”

PARIS The pieces are falling into place as Oxford County converts its 72-hour holding facility to a full-service jail.
County commissioner Thursday approved bids for food services and medical services, that last two major items required to make the switch.
During a statewide jail consolidation in 2008, directed by former Gov. John Baldacci, the jail was turned into a 72-hour holding facility. The county boards its inmates at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. It cost the county $520,000 in 2020 to board those prisoners. In 2019, that cost was $777,500.
The county budgeted $340,000 to cover the first six months of 2021 until the planned July opening.
