The Beverly Hills restaurant that caught heat for advertising a ‘discreet’ indoor dining experience on New Year’s Eve and amid Los Angeles’ current dining ban is now claiming that the invitation was mishandled by the person that wrote it, but also misinterpreted by anyone who was offended by it.
La Scala, a high-end restaurant located two blocks from Rodeo Drive, made headlines last week after it was discovered that the eatery was stuffing its takeout orders with the invitations, which advertised the possible speakeasy -style dinner event and asked patrons to keep it a secret.

Schnuck Markets, Inc. announced it will purchase gift cards from local restaurants and hand them out to store employees in an effort to curb the damage from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The supermarket chain said it will spend nearly $200,000, giving employees a $15 gift card to a restaurant located within five miles of their work location. As many families do this time of year, we wanted to support others in our ‘food family’ – in this case the many local restaurants negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck said in a statement. Schnuck Markets is investing approximately $200,000 in the communities in which it operates by purchasing gift cards to local restaurants that will be awarded to all Schnucks teammates. Each Schnucks teammate will receive a $15 gift card to a restaurant located within five miles of his or her work location.

Regional St. Louis retailer buys $200,000 worth of gift cards for its employees
St. Louis-based Schnuck Markets is making the holidays a little happier for its workers and local restaurants in its communities with a new program that gives all Schnucks associates a $15 gift card to a restaurant located within five miles of his or her work location.
The company is spending $200,000 on the gift cards, which will help support local restaurants that have been challenged during the COVID-19 pandemic.
