D.C. AG targets Amazon in new antitrust suit over third-party seller pricing policies

A new lawsuit from the Washington, D.C., attorney general alleges that Amazon illegally manipulates the e-commerce market to its own advantage by penalizing third-party sellers that offer products at lower prices on other platforms.
Amazon quickly shot back, saying that Attorney General Karl Racine “has it exactly backwards,” and that his remedies “would force Amazon to feature higher prices to customers, oddly going against core objectives of antitrust law.”
The suit, filed Tuesday morning, is part of a broader move by legislators and regulators to scrutinize and take action against Amazon’s business practices as a check on the company’s market power. Antitrust challenges are shaping up as one of the defining issues for

Bill Gates resigned from the Microsoft board after allegations surfaced that the company co-founder had an inappropriate, years-long sexual relationship with an employee, the Wall Street Journal reported late Sunday.
The board, according to the Journal, “decided that Bill Gates needed to step down from its board in 2020 as they pursued an investigation into the billionaire’s prior romantic relationship with a female Microsoft employee that was deemed inappropriate.”

Dubuque County bobcat season on hold, Delaware, Jones County approved
DNR map.
The Iowa Natural Resources Commission approved adding bobcat seasons in Delaware and Jones Counties in northeast Iowa counties Thursday but Dubuque County was removed from the proposed new bobcat zones.
The DNR’s Todd Bishop says 20 of 23 comments in Dubuque County were against adding the bobcat season. He says they decided to pull Dubuque from the list and do some outreach and surveys on the issue.
Bishop says the opposition came from landowners and it was not against bobcat hunting it centered on numbers. “And they gave specific examples of they felt like the population wasn’t in a place they weren’t seeing enough bobcats to warrant a season. Very specific to their observations on their land, things like that,” Bishop says.
