Sallie Stowers was born and raised in Dawson County and has lived in the same house her whole life. She graduated from Dawson County High School and is a freshman at UGA with a big dream she will soon accomplish: to represent her hometown in the Miss Georgia pageant in June.
Stowers said she did a few pageants when she was little but was never interested, until one day she decided she wanted to give pageants another try.

On March 4, the Dawsonville Lions Club donated $2000 to the Good Shepherd Clinic of Dawson County.
In a presentation on March 4, Lions Club Treasurer Martha Holbrook, Secretary Jim Buckley and Lions Tail Twister Richard DeNell gave the donation to Good Shepherd Clinic Executive Director Kay Parrish and Volunteer Coordinator Joe Fortune.
Dawsonville Lions Charities Inc. is a nonprofit organization that supports financial contributions and referrals for those in need to the Georgia Lions Lighthouse for free eye exams, eyeglasses, more serious eye care and free hearing aid help.
