Dawson County firefighter arrested for DUI, placed on administrative leave
Authorities say that a Dawson County firefighter was arrested last week and charged with allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, following a single-vehicle wreck in south Dawson County. Michael Robert Baumgartner
Lt. Michael Robert Baumgartner, 31, of Cumming, was taken into custody by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office at about 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 1, 2021, after deputies responded to a crash in the area of 6175 Hwy. 9 south, near the Forsyth County line.
In an email to the Dawson County News, Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson said that deputies determined that Baumgartner’s vehicle had left the roadway, traveled down an embankment and struck several trees.

Dawson County authorities on the lookout for missing teen

Authorities in Dawson County are searching for a 15-year-old girl who went missing early on Sunday morning.
In a Facebook post on Monday evening, the Dawson County Sheriff s Office said that Taylor Montaigne, a local teen, was last leaving a house near Toto Creek in Dawson County at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31.
Montaigne is described as 5 foot 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 135 pounds, with hazel eyes and shoulder-length dyed black hair. She was last known to be wearing a black jacket with a cartoon image on it, maroon sweatpants, black and white Nike shoes, and a black Puma backpack.
In a BOLO issued by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, authorities said that they have received numerous reports of mail thefts in a residential area near Wildwood Court in south Dawson County.
